Portretten zijn niet alleen een momentopname, maar de gelaagdheid van een heel leven.
Iedereen op aarde leeft in een golfbeweging, met ups en downs die ons vormen. Het leven biedt ons telkens knopen om te ontwarren. Wanneer je zo’n knoop oplost, voel je je even lichter, alsof je een stapje hoger op de berg bent gekomen. Maar vroeg of laat komt er weer een nieuwe uitdaging, een nieuw dal waar je doorheen moet. Dit ritme van het leven, dat voortdurend zoeken naar balans, is universeel. Of je welvarend bent of niet, niemand ontsnapt aan de dalen die het leven voor ons klaarlegt.
Deze beweging van het leven zie je weerspiegeld in de ogen van mensen. Ogen zijn een venster naar de ziel. Dat maakt gezichten zo fascinerend. Iedere persoon draagt een uniek verhaal, een pad vol pieken en dalen waar jij niets van weet. Maar als je echt goed kijkt, kun je een glimp opvangen van dat verhaal. In mijn portretten probeer ik die glimp vast te leggen, die diepte en de sporen van een leven, met al zijn schoonheid en complexiteit.

Everyone on this earth moves in waves, with ups and downs that shape who we are. Life constantly presents us with knots to untangle. When you unravel one, you feel lighter, as if you’ve climbed a little higher on the mountain. But sooner or later, a new challenge appears, a new valley to traverse. This rhythm of life, this constant search for balance, is universal. Whether you are rich or poor, privileged or not, no one escapes the valleys that life places before them.
This movement of life is reflected in people’s eyes. Eyes are windows to the soul, revealing the turbulence and struggles of a life lived. That is what makes faces so fascinating. Every person carries a unique story, a path full of peaks and valleys that you’ll never fully know. But if you truly look closely, you can catch a glimpse of that story. In my portraits, I try to capture that glimpse, that depth, and the traces of a life—with all its beauty and complexity.
