Coffee-stained Mornings

Muted light, a quiet room, Two souls entwined, a somber mood. Steaming cups, a bitter brew, Silent thoughts, a mournful hue.

Whispers lost in swirling steam, Eyes downcast, a troubled dream. Each sip a moment, fleeting, slow, A bittersweet escape from woe.

The world outside, a blur, unseen, Lost in this moment, solemn and keen. A fragile bond, a tender hold, As stories untold, begin to unfold.

Ellen says:

“My scenes build on a tradition in which everyday objects are elevated to symbolic carriers of meaning. Like artists such as Cézanne and Braque, I use the table and the objects on it as a stage for human interaction. By combining cubist aspects with carefully chosen symbols, such as the cut pear and the frames on the wall, I invite the viewer to look not only at the conversation, but also at what lies beneath it.”
