Table Conversations
Under the hands of man,
the table becomes a haven, a place of rest.
The table is the heart of the home,
where life fills with pleasure.
So let us honor the table,
with a meal, with wine, with a song.
The table will tell us stories,
of joy, of tears, of sorrow.
Inspired by and referring to the Flemish School Ellen creates a very own expression of figures around the table.
Ellen Says:
“This scene captures a contrast between outward cheerfulness and inner introspection. The woman, beautifully balanced in the center of the composition, radiates elegance with her updo hair and graceful shapes. However, her horrified look adds emotional depth to the scene. The small dog on her leg offers her a moment of peace, while the man next to her, with flowers in his hand, radiates a subdued care. The incoming guests and the rhythm of the folds in the curtains add movement and life to the homely decor, in which the graceful vase and draped tablecloth bring a sense of refinement.”
“My work is about capturing human interaction, but I choose to break through traditional perspectives. By integrating cubist aspects, I show how our perception of space and relationships can be fluid. The table becomes not just a functional object, but a playful and distorted scene that enhances the conversation and dynamics between the figures.”
